Cayenne pepper is one of my favorite herbs and is on my top 5 important herb list because it has so many uses and i love how it spices up the flavor of foods.

Cayenne is often referred to as chili, which is the Aztec name for cayenne pepper.

One of the greatest health benefits from regular cayenne use is for the heart. Scientific research indicates that cayenne can help to strengthen the heart, remove plaque build up in the arteries, remove toxins from the bloodstream, and stop a heart attack. It stimulates blood and lymph circulation and helps to build red blood cells. It is useful in treating a sore throat, eliminating headaches, aiding digestion, and helping with weight loss. It is high in vitamin E and C, is used to treat flu and cold symptoms, and helps to relieve muscle and joint pain. Cayenne has too many benefits to list here; there are entire books written on this delightful herb. So try out a few remedies using this fiery conqueror!

Kasmik's Triple Crown Remedies

#1 -Chest Pain(possible heart attack)- add one teaspoon ground organic cayenne pepper to 1 cup hot water and drink entire amount immediately while on the way to the hospital. Cayenne extract is also a convenient solution to have on hand.

#2 -Muscle/Joint Pain-Make a liniment by adding 1/2 cup powdered cayenne pepper to 16 ounces of apple cider vinegar or vodka. Let cure for 7-10 days. Strain and rebottle. Shake before use and apply to affected area with soaked cotton or cloth. Here is another recipe from another source:

Making Tinctures -An Example with Cayenne Tincture - Dr. Schulze

  1. Start to make this and ANY Tincture, if possible, on a NEW Moon.
  2. Take a Quart Canning Jar and fill it 1/4 FULL with DRIED Cayenne Peppers, getting the HOTTEST ones (i.e. - Habanero, African Bird, Serrano, Jalapeno - 90,000+ Heat Units), that you can obtain.
  3. Add enough 50% Grain Alcohol (100 Proof Vodka) to the Cayenne Peppers (powdered, using a Blender or Grinder) to just COVER them.
  4. Use enough FRESH Cayenne Peppers, that you can blend with 50% Grain Alcohol (100 Proof Vodka) to turn the Mixture into an Apple Sauce-Like Consistency.
  5. Add this Mixture to the 1st Mixture, filling up the Canning Jar 3/4 FULL.
  6. Fill up the rest of the Canning Jar with MORE 50% Grain Alcohol (100 Proof Vodka).
  7. Shake it as MANY times as possible, during the Day.
  8. Let this Mixture SIT, until the following FULL Moon (15-16 Days), but OPTIMALLY until the following NEW Moon (28-29 Days)!
  9. Strain this Mixture through an UNBLEACHED Coffee Filter.
  10. Bottle the RESULTING Tincture.
#3 -To add vigor and youthfulness mix 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar to 24 ounces of water plus 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper. Sip this tonic throughout the day 4-5 days a week to increase energy, curb appetite, cleanse the kidneys and liver, and restore a youthful glow to the skin. Don't forget to drink an additional eight 8 oz glasses of pure water!

Fennel is a well known plant used in many cultures as a remedy for indigestion, flatulence, constipation and other digestive problems. A popular culinary herb in India, fennel is used in foods, medicines, and perfumery. Ground and powdered fennel seeds can be used to flavor breads, cakes, and pies. It is also used for respiratory ailments, to help increase the flow of breast milk, to lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation. This herb is warming and helps to break down accumulations in the body and stimulate circulation. Perhaps this is why many use it for weight loss!

Kasmik's Triple Crown Remedies

#1-Crush or grind 1-2 teaspoons of the seeds, then steep in 8 oz boiling water for ten minutes to produce a very effective remedy for indigestion. Add a small amount of vanilla flavored rice milk for a smoother taste or for children. The aroma is also soothing and relaxing to the nerves. Inhale deeply as you sip the tea.

#2 -Crush or grind 2 tablespoons of fennel and fenugreek seeds, the steep in 8-12 oz boiling water for ten minutes. Lightly sweeten with raw honey or agave and sip slowly. Optional-add fresh lemon juice for extra kick!

#3 -To create a poultice to reduce inflammation-Mix powdered seeds in boiling water to make a paste. Spread paste on one side of a white cotton cloth twice the size of the area to be treated. Fold or wrap cloth to contain the paste and apply to affected area while hot. Place towel or another cloth on top of poultice and remove after 20-30 minutes.

Hi everyone! Happy October!
October is known as the traditional start of autumn because of noticeable shift in the weather patterns and the color transformation in flora and foliage. The bright yellow, red and orange hues restyle the earth's summer greenery into warm cuddly wardrobe in preparation for the cool days ahead.
The harvest is being gathered and we celebrate the fruits of our labor during the warmer months by slowing our pace and partaking of home and hearth. Wonderful foods are in abundance-apples, squash, potatoes, grains-and we cook and eat heartily!
October is also World Vegetarian Awareness Month. If you are considering upgrading your diet and lifestyle, this is a fabulous time to do so! There are many resources available to help educate you about the benefits of a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle and many events happening which will allow you to experience first hand vegetarian cuisine, philosophy, practitioners, and celebrations!

Vegetarianism is a wholistic practice which includes a healthy, well balanced meat/dairy free diet. The word vegetarian, coined by the founders of the British Vegetarian Society in 1847, comes from the Latin word vegetus, meaning "whole, sound, fresh, or lively," as in homo vegetus - a mentally and physically vigorous person. The term 'Vegetarian' was coined in 1847. It was first formally used on September 30th of that year by Joseph Brotherton and others, at Northwood Villa in Kent, England. The occasion being the inaugural meeting of the Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom.

The original meaning of the word implies a balanced philosophical and moral sense of life, based on a sustainable culture, implying a lot more than just a diet of vegetables and fruits.

Prior to 1847, non-meat eaters were generally known as 'Pythagoreans' or adherents of the 'Pythagorean System', after the ancient Greek 'vegetarian' Pythagoras.

The bottom line in vegetarianism is to have a well balanced sensible healthy diet.. From one person to another that may vary due to different natures, different work or even different climatic situations, or cultures, but a basic balance can be applied that can easily be applied to allow all those of us with a human body to live a healthy, happy, peaceful life in harmony with those around us.

PALM HEAVEN

The palm tree has many meanings in the ancient and modern world. In ancient Egypt, the palm stem was considered a symbol of long life, while the Assyrians regarded the crown of the tree as heaven and the base of the tree as earth, rendering the entire tree sacred. The early Christians and Romans used the palm branch as a symbol of triumph and victory in physical or spiritual war. In Judaism, the palm represents peace, plenty and the tree of life.
In modern times the palm as a symbol of the tropics, paradise, and the oasis, invokes feelings and visions of relaxation, serenity, and escape from the daily routine.
Even before the beginning of civilization, the palm has served as a source of food(dates, coconuts, palm oil), clothing and shelter for humans and animals making it a most important resource for our survival as well as providing an indispensable aesthetic value. Enjoy!

Uelanuhi - Cherokee Goddess of the Sun, her name meant "apportioner", as she was responsible for dividing time into units. Her warmth was captured for man by Grandmother Spiderwoman's web.

Sun goddesses are found on every continent. Among the earliest records of human beliefs, the early goddesses of the Egyptian pantheon carried a sun above their head as a symbol of dignity.
